    This dude thinks he’s that legit with his game that he can showcase a teaching of hitting these two types of shots when I have never heard of this no name myself, dude prolly can’t chip or putt or make this type of swing when he needs to during a round lol.

    What has really helped me - On take away- break wrist so your palm is facing straight down on your top hand… I just figured this out recently - this gets me in the same position and is easy to keep consistent …. Pure iron shots all day!!!

    Interesting way to close the club face leftwards on impact. Whatever your swingpath, you definitely won’t slice the ball. You may hook it left badly on occasion, which would be a change. Not sure that it’s a very reliable way of going straight, though.

    Keep 70% of your weight on your front side before you start your swing, and keep pressing down. This eliminates all the weight transfer. Much simpler and easier.

    I submit an easier less complicated approach to this complicated movement. Bump to the lead side and let your arms fall. If you do this movement without getting to your lead side you will struggle mightily. If you shift the pressure even just slightly you will turn without any effort. What Tiger is demonstrating is a feeling and it’s obvious to see he does not do this in his swing.

    How often can it be mostly attributed to bad alignment. I fight early extension, seems like im always aimed too far right of target, which i believe gets me stuck....

    this is the second time I’ve seen you explain this on your channel @GolfSlump, it changed my game entirely… I call it the hip dip, and when I remind myself to start with my right hip and that squat move, everything comes into play perfectly. this is an excellent excellent compression move. Thank you again.

    I just read (twice) the book “Every Shot Counts”. He’s a stats geek from a NYC university and was behind the whole “shots gained” which is an integral part of pro golf. I’m a nutshell, the golfer who is closer to the hole after any particular shot is going to (on average) score lower. So, tee to green is much more important. I tend to agree with Daley with the caveat that you can’t give up much distance off the tee before it hurts you.

    A clubfitter who mentored me about 15-16 years ago found that fitting for club weight could help with that. Clubs that were too light often encouraged a too handsy pick up, whereas he found that if he used heavier shafts, players were more likely to use the shoulders for a good turning takeaway.

    Just got home from the range and practiced that exact drill. I changed basically my entire swing today and I even surprised myself at the gains, cause I was already a pretty solid ball striker with my irons. All my speed was generated in the bottom half of my downswing. Can’t wait to go back tomorrow and get after it again

    The way this is done is to progressively increase side bend ) while letting gravity pull the mass of the arms and club down and the hips move laterally to the target which changes the force vector of the body mass, arm mass and club head mass in the same direction. If you isolate the side bend movement you will see it drops the trail shoulder and raises the lead one / relative angle of the hips __. This is different than TILT which is the result of keeping spine straight and tilting pelvis with leg action which keep pelvis and shoulders parallel with each other. As you side bend from the top the trail arm will tuck in and the hands will drop in a circle down and towards the ball. It is nearly identical to the biomechanics of skipping a stone sidearm over the surface of a pond but for some reason having the lead hand pulling down on the club confuses the reflexive brain. You will find the more you can side bend (easier with long torsos / short legs) the deeper into the downswing radial deviation lag can be held and the more explosively the club head will whip around the hands into the ball. I find the best way to teach this is to statically pose the golfer in a side bent “Pro” impact position then have them move backwards to the top and back down to that same position. Usually without any further verbal instruction their conscious brain accepts it is a better way to swing - heck all the pro’s do it - and their reflexives brains execute the plan. The root cause if the problem? The instructor showing them technique without explaining the goal - impact position - and the strategy needed to get there - side bending the spine. 😊

    Ill win a big tourney someday...I fully believe that someday I will get it done, and the #1 reason I believe that is because of my short game+wedges from 135 and in. 2 years ago i was a 6 handicap who spent 75% of my practice time on the range bombing balls, now im a +3 and i spend probably max 33% of my time on the range (and for every ball i hit with an iron/wood I require myself to hit 2x with a wedge). At this point I can take any of my 4 wedges (58/54/50/46) and stick it within 10 feet probably 80-90% of the time, from ANY distance inside of 100 yds, with any of the 4 wedges. Being comfortable hitting so many different shots around the green and having so many shot shape/flight options has really elevated my game.

      If you've a short backswing. Speed up. You don't have as much space to get up to speed. Long backswing, slow tempo - Ernie, Freddy etc. sort backswing,fast tempo - Rahm

    • @iro9486
      @iro9486 День тому

      You have a completely different kind of swing. If it's good and mechanically sound the comment above should help you, but you're cutting your lower body off. It's simplified in some ways because of that but harder to generate speed because the muscles and parts of your body that are still speeding up have to cover up for that in the back and downswing. The rest of the swing should be pretty standard at impact and the follow through. Weight shift, hips, etc. They just won't do much in the backswing.
